SeaTec Engineering (see www.seatec-services.com) provides independent assessments of the technical, operational and commercial integrity of a vessel or fleet of vessels. These ‘health checks’ are bespoke to the client’s requirements and encompass structural integrity and the operational condition of ship electronic, mechanical, propulsion and cargo handling equipment –either on a routine basis or in preparation for a major drydocking/refit. Desktop research is combined with a physical inspection.
The remit of the multi-disciplined inspectors and support staff providing these services can be further extended to assess the commercial health of a vessel in the current competitive market place in which it operates through the assessment of vessel operating costs in relation to earnings. Recommendations are made to address any findings resulting from the assessment work.
